CODA Program

FAITH Center for the Arts has developed an advanced curriculum called Coda for students who have successfully completed all requirements for Level 4. Coda students are placed in groupings and classes that stimulate them to think about, listen to, and create music at a higher level of proficiency. Students enrolling in the Coda program receive a 30-minute small ensemble and 45-minute large ensemble class experience. In addition to this program, students are encouraged to take a private lesson at least twice monthly.  We will assist you in finding a teacher.

  • Coda Music Theory projects are assigned and completed by the student.
  • Coda Ensemble assignments are based on the students’ most recent Skill Day audition.
  • Finale Class (added as an upper level Coda Ensemble Class) assignments are based on student’s audition.  Interested students should indicate on their registration form their desire to participate in Finale.  Finale students must participate in Fine Arts Night and the Spring Concert.

New students to F.A.I.T.H. Center for the Arts must demonstrate proficiency at level four of the curriculum guide.  Auditions will be scheduled at the Parent Orientation on September 12, 2006.
(This class is NOT considered a choir class.)
Vocal Workshop classes are available to students 13 years of age and up.  Classes will meet weekly.  Students will develop:

  • Diaphragmatic support for projected singing,
  • Vowel and consonant production based on the bel canto method,
  • Performance techniques.

In this class students learn and perform classical Italian repertoire in addition to other genres of personal interest.  All Vocal Workshop students must participate in a skill day twice a year at which time students demonstrate their skill to FAITH Center faculty.  Skill Day results are made available to students.  Vocal Workshop classes may participate in the Spring Concert.  Minimum class size is 6, maximum is 16.
