MUSIC THEORY 2:
Open to students ages 11+ who have successfully completed Music Theory 1. Music Theory is a two-year curriculum that rotates every year. This class meets weekly. Students will gain an understanding of basic music theory beginning with major and minor scales and circle of fifths. Students learn sight singing, rhythmic dictation, and elementary harmony. Students are expected to create a portfolio of their work, used to assess progress. To complete Music Theory 2, students must write an original melody and harmonize it for four-part choir. Students should anticipate 45 minutes of preparation for each 45-minute class.
