Greg Gaffney was raised in Upstate New York, the oldest of twelve children in a close knit family. After graduation from Union Springs High School , he attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he responded to a gospel presentation and accepted Jesus Christ as Savior during his freshman year. After graduation with a B.S. in Music Education, he enrolled in Moody Bible Institute’s Advanced Studies Program, at which time he met his wife Kathy, an undergraduate student from New Mexico who was an International Ministries major. Greg and Kathy stayed in the Chicago area after graduation, as Greg taught for ten years on the faculty of Moody Bible Institute in the Physical Education Department. After departing Moody, he served three years as Pastor of Worship and Administration at Des Plaines Bible Church in Illinois where he was ordained in 1995. They then came to New Jersey where Greg served for nine years as Associate Pastor at Grace Bible Chapel in Chester , NJ . His pastoral duties at the two churches were focused primarily on worship, youth, evangelism, missions and administration.

Greg currently is the executive director of PowerSurge Worship Ministries, an evangelical not-for-profit global outreach ministry seeking to promote and enable a lifestyle of Biblically-based worship across the Christian Church and the world. He has been privileged to travel around the world working with missionaries and churches using athletics and music as platforms for evangelism. These experiences have helped create a passion in him which led to his joining with a group of men and women to first pray for direction and then to found PowerSurge Worship Ministries. His short term missions experiences have taken him to Mexico, the Bahamas, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Spain, Iceland, Brazil, Norway and Germany as well as stateside. He has also served as musician, worship leader, clinician or speaker for numerous ministry events throughout the country.

Shortly after founding PowerSurge Worship Ministries, Greg and Kathy and their family began attending Bethlehem Church , participating in several ministries; Kathy joined the youth leadership team and Greg involved himself in the worship ministry and with the worship and youth programs on a short term outreach to Brazil . This past spring, to assist in the transition period between youth pastors, Greg was asked to serve as an advisor to the youth staff, acting as a liaison between the youth workers and the pastoral team.

Greg and his wife Kathy have four children; Grant, Kaitlyn, Kristin, and Garrett. Grant recently followed his parents’ footsteps as a student at Moody Bible Institute, entering as a freshman this fall.
